I can scratch the floating shelves off my wish list because Dear Husband let me buy them!
Here is a pic of one of the shelves as advertised on target.com:
And here is a pic of two of the shelves hanging in our Master Bedroom:
What do you think? The colors of the candlesticks and inside the frames complement a painting we bought on our honeymoon in Jamaica that hangs on another wall in the room (more pics to come later).
Oh, and in case you didn't notice, the candlesticks are the ones I purchased for $1 each from the thrift store!
Also, all of the frames were purchased from thrift stores, painted with white acrylic paint, and then filled with scrapbook paper. Cheap, easy, and (I think) pretty!
So, what fun projects have you done that you now proudly display in your home?

I love floating shelves and have them in the dining room. Yours look great--simple and sophisticated! Congrats on checking this one off the list! :-)
What a wonderful way to add some color and "art"... my sister did a similar thing when she got married with wrapping paper. She ended up crumpling it up to get an "aged" effect and then put a gift bag in the middle. I couldn't believe it when I saw it!!
Also... Although I have yet to visit, I was told that the Big Lots in Madison Heights apparently is 10x better than the one here. If you go or have gone, let me know how it is!!
